How many bowlers can say they've been clocked at 87mph when they were 17? Not many that's for sure. Bilal Sami however, he's an exception to that rule.
Sami was regularly bowling in and around this pace at the 2022 u19 World Cup - helping lead the Afghanistan team to their first ever semi-final.
He ended the World Cup with 4 wickets, which arguably wasn't a fair reflection on how he bowled throughout. He was selected for each and every game at the tournament and often built pressure on the batsman for his bowling partner at the other end.
Determined to take more wickets Bilal returned to Afghanistan in 2022 and took 22 wickets in just 10 matches, including 7/80 in a three-day game.
He followed this up in the 2023 First Class competition with 16 wickets in just 6 matches.
By no means is Sami the finished article, far from it, but the blistering pace & bounce that's generated from a young man who stands well over six feet tall certainly has the Afghanistan Cricket Board purring at yet another world class Afghan pace bowler in the making.
Bilal is available for placements at both UK amateur & professional clubs globally, please click here to enquire.
